HMRC are tending to become more focused on the extent to which employers are complying with the ever-increasing amount of legislation surrounding the application of income tax and National Insurance Contributions (NIC). Where non-compiance is established, arrears of income tax and NIC may be sought for a six year period.
The addition of interest and penalties significantly increases the potential exposure.
We can review your level of compliance with regard to withholding and reporting obligations and provide recommendations for changes to processes and procedures. Implementing such changes should help reduce the risk of arrears being sought on subsequent review by HMRC.
